St Andrews Golf Camp first began in 2012 and since then has connected juniors from across the world through the love of golf and St Andrews, fusing amazing friendships that were made to last a lifetime.
Wanting to create ‘the best golf camp in the world’, Jamie and Marc knew they would have to work hard, and that is what they did! Golf is not only a hobby but a way of life to their young family and has taken them across the world, opening many doors and allowed them to meet many interesting people. It has given them the confidence to set up their own businesses and most importantly it has given them friends for life along the way. They wanted to grow the game and share this vision with young juniors from across the world.
After falling in love with St Andrews, they realised that junior golf lacked a lot of support and made it their mission to change that. Over the past 8 years they have forged lasting relationships with the local people and businesses of St Andrews, including The Links Academy, St Leonard’s, St Andrews University and the several golf courses throughout Scotland. Their dreams have come true as year on year they welcome these kids who go home better, more passionate golfers.
Marc GentlesEmail Me
Marc Gentles started St Andrews Golf Camp in 2012 with his wife Jamie. Marc has had a passion for golf since the age of 6 and this has continued to this day.
After playing golf at a high amateur level and representing Scotland on several occasions both internationally and domestically, Marc continued his passion working at world class golf courses across the globe including Royal Melbourne, Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand and then the Old Course.
Marc also owns and operates St. Andrews Golf Travel which is a luxury golf travel company bringing golfers from around the globe to Scotland.
His passion is to create unforgettable golf trips for clients that will make them want to keep returning to The Home of Golf.
Marc can’t wait until his 2 kids, Luna and Arlo start playing golf and no doubt spending some of their summer playing golf on the camp.
Jamie Craig-GentlesEmail Me
Jamie Craig-Gentles is the owner and operations manager of St Andrews Golf Camp. Jamie has travelled the world, walking several golf courses with her husband Marc. She loves how golf connects people and it always makes her smile when she can see the juniors making friends for life during the camps. Her background and degree as a qualified nurse means we all know we are in safe hands!
Jamie is a mum of 2 gorgeous children Luna & Arlo. One or both are often seen with her during the camps, this adds to the family feel St Andrews Golf Camp has to offer. Jamie loves to visit far away countries and experience different cultures, making friends and memories along the way. She has a slight obsession with Jo Malone perfume and she also loves to cook Italian food!
Claire ThomsonEmail Me
Claire Thomson works with St Andrews Golf Camp year round, and is passionate about ensuring our juniors have the best possible experience whilst here in the Home of Golf. Whilst working at Kingsbarns Golf Links, she really fell in love with the sport and its power to bring people together from across the world. It was here where she met Marc, Jamie and Graeme. She loved their goal of growing the game, sharing their passion for both the sport and the town of St Andrews with juniors from around the world, and wanted to be part of their team. Having worked with children for years, she was delighted to be able to join the camps in 2017. After graduating with a degree in English Literature, Claire spent a year travelling New Zealand, Australia and Canada before returning to St Andrews. Although she loves adventuring to new places, she feels very lucky to be able to call this beautiful little corner of the world home.
Heather McKimmieEmail Me
Heather McKimmie has just graduated from St Andrews University with a degree in French and Spanish (which greatly helps with our international juniors!) Having loved golf from a young age, it was a natural decision for her to attend university at the Home of Golf, where she combined her passion for languages and the sport. As Captain of the Ladies Golf Team during her final year, she organised matches and socials to bring the team together. Having spent time abroad teaching English in France and as an au pair in Spain, Heather couldn’t wait to work with kids again this summer and was excited to share her love of the sport and the auld grey toon with juniors from across the globe. Fun fact: Golf runs in the McKimmie family – Heather is the 3rd generation member of Balmore GC. She follows in the footsteps of her grandfather and father. All 3 of them are Club Champions
