OUR VALUES
St Andrews Golf Camp instils 6 core values:
INTEGRITY, RESPECT, RESILIENCE, COMMUNITY, & LEADERSHIP + KINDNESS
INTEGRITY – To have integrity means that you are an honest individual with a strong sense of what is right and wrong. As a golfer, it is important to be a genuine and honest player who always displays good sportsmanship to provide a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. Integrity is essential when recording scores and abiding by the rules of the game, to encourage fairness and reliability throughout the camp. People who demonstrate integrity draw others towards them as they are trustworthy and dependable individuals.
RESPECT – To have respect for someone means that you are considerate of others’ feelings, their wishes, and their rights. You may also respect people’s hard work and achievements. As a golfer, it is important to be respectful in order to establish positive relationships. To respect oneself, each individual must understand their flaws and talents and work on becoming a better person. To respect the environment, each golfer must take care of the courses they play and display admirable etiquette around St Andrews. To respect others around them, each golfer must be aware of their surroundings whilst acting graciously in victory and defeat.
RESILIENCE – To have resilience means that you have the ability to recover quickly when faced with difficulties or hardships in a gracious manner. As a golfer, setting high standards and working outwith your comfort zone will help you excel in the sport. Continuously having a passion and drive to succeed will improve each individual’s talents. Having the determination to overcome challenges will, in turn, increase confidence and a sense of achievement.
COMMUNITY – Having a sense of community means you care and respect each other whilst together. As a golfer, embracing the local culture and adopting a community spirit gives everyone a sense of belonging. Making an effort to get to know everyone and supporting one another will positively impact each other’s overall experience. Everyone should conduct themselves in a kind and respectful manner to create a safe, inclusive and happy camp.
LEADERSHIP – By displaying leadership qualities, you take responsibility for others in your group. As a golfer, it is important to earn respect by acting as a role model and representing the sport to the best of your ability. In order to have good leadership, each golfer must demand high expectations of themselves by taking care of their accommodation, their personal belongings and their fellow campers at all times.
KINDNESS - following on from our video link, we want to emphasise how important this one value is to us here at St Andrews Golf Camp. Kindness is the quality of being friendly towards others, thoughtful, generous and considerate. We want every one of you to remember to always spare a thought for other people and how their day is going during our camps. To have a kind word, or a smile or to share your golf balls with someone! By showing little acts of kindness every day, it will ensure that everyone will love their experience here at St Andrews Golf Camp! We believe that displaying kindness is key to making the world a happier and more caring place.
